UPDATE
IT'S ON TONIGHT !!!!!
Hi everyone. I've got my Beanie and I'm all set.
The weather is meant to be cold and rainy!! I'm so glad I'm not really homeless. Hopefully our money will help some real homeless people get off the streets or at least get warm blankets and rain jackets and toiletries.
Thanks to everyone who have already sponsored me. I still need a bit more to get to my target tho' but ... no pressure.
Stay warm tonight wherever you are and think of me ...
LOL Phebe
Hello, my name is Phebe Hirst and I go to Marryatville Primary school.
At my school we are helping to make a difference by fundraising for Vinnies and sleeping out in the cold. This will help us experience what it's like to be homeless.
I will be participating in the sleepout on the 11th of August and I would like you to please help me to make a difference and support the homeless by giving a donation on this page.
Together we can help to give everyone a place to call home.
Thank you.
Phebe
St Vincent de Paul Society (SA) Inc (Vinnies SA)
Operating since 1884, the Society in South Australia has over 2500 members and volunteers in 64 Conferences, 34 Vinnies Centres and numerous Special Works. They work together, supported by dedicated staff, to relieve not only the immediate requirements of those in need, but to identify the deep and long-term causes leading to financial and social hardship in our community, and provide a voice for the disadvantaged.
Each year the Society assists over 100,000 South Australians. This help is not limited to providing material goods, food and shelter, but extends to providing support, relief from loneliness and encouragement for people to help themselves. Vinnies relies largely on the generosity of donations from the public, and any surplus generated goes directly to supporting the Society’s good works, which provide a range of services to people facing disadvantage.
Our services include;
Conferences - Serving people in need on a one to one basis.
Vinnies Shops - Providing quality pre-loved clothing, household goods and furniture for people in need.
Fred’s Van - Feeding the homeless and hungry.
Vinnies Men's Crisis Centre - Providing emergency accommodation and support to homeless men around the clock every day of the year.
Vinnies Women's Crisis Centre - Providing emergency accommodation and support to women (and their children) in crisis, around the clock every day of the year.
Migrant and Refugee Committee -Welcome and help for new arrivals to South Australia.
Overseas Partnerships and Development - A contribution to world peace and understanding.
Amelie Housing - Housing those in need.
